Update 11/01: I’ve changed the format of this a bit to make it easier for you to QUICKLY see the NEWEST Deals for the day (or Weekend Wrap-Ups.) I was struggling with how best to keep some of the previous deals around that were still good, without making it cumbersome to find that day’s New Deals. It seemed a shame to just delete some of the deals after a day that were still really good and long-term. But, I also want you to be able to quickly check on the newest ones, too! So, deals from the SAME day (or weekend wrap-up for 3-days) will be at the very top. Deals that you may want to reference later will follow.

In my Penny Pantry Facebook Group, I post many deals & info. throughout the day including freebies, deal updates & changes, Amazon Deals, meals & recipes, food discounts I run across + more! Some are more timely than others: the Amazon Warehouse Deals tend to come and go quickly, so Facebook is a good platform for me to let you know about those deals quickly.

Posts here on my website take longer to write and deliver, so I primarily use it for Weekly Grocery Deals, and other deals I think you may want to reference later. But, I’d like to bridge that gap as not everyone is on Facebook. Plus, it may be nice to have the Daily Deals together, as the Facebook feeds don’t run exclusively chronologically.

So, I’ll try this out and see how it goes! Please let me know if you think this will be useful as a companion to my Facebook posts. And, if you’re on Facebook and haven’t joined our group yet, I hope you will join and become part of our active, supportive vegan community! <3 Amy

• Safeway: After seeing those huge jackfruits at my local store last night, I felt veganism has really gone mainstream. Curious, too, if we could order whole jackfruit online for delivery. Looks like we can!

• WOW! “To promote the restaurant launch, Nathan’s Famous will offer one free vegan hot dog to customers who wish to try it for a limited time”.
• FREE Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Today! You’ll need their “Pretzel Perks” app. They do spray them with butter, I’ve been able to have them spray with water before baking.
• Sprouts: The Monthly Sales will end Tues. On Wed., we should have a new Monthly Booklet. These are in addition to the advertised Weekly Sales, and I add my favorites to my posts. See them throughout my post.
• There’s still time to get My Very Best Grocery Deals from last week! We have thru Tuesday.
• WOW! CVS Shoppers: Get SIX FREE Rolls of Tree Free T.P. thru 5/01! I just added this to my Weekly Deals, scroll down to CVS
• Lucky Stores $1 Sale: Not a store I usually cover, but I was checking out their Weekly Ad and noticed a $1 Sale. There are a few really good deals that stood out to me: $1 frozen juice (looks like regular o.j. is included, great deal!), sandwich bread, hamburger and hot dog buns, tortillas, snacks, condiments + more! The sale is thru Tuesday 4/27, and it’s advertised in CA.
• Silk Oatmilk: NEW $1.25/1 Printable Coupon! I noticed at Safeway that there were some new oatmilk cartons, different from the Oat Yeah ones. You can print two coupons.

• Safeway Monopoly: **ALL instant win prizes AND coupons MUST be scanned into the app, just the same as you scan in the “Match 3” codes**. If you’ve been playing and redeeming prizes, likely you already know this. I wanted to give a heads up though if you’ve been collecting your “instant win” tickets to redeem later all at once. This differs from past years when you could just bring the paper to the store and they would scan it. You will not get your coupon, instant win prize unless you scan it 1st. Be sure to also redeem your tokens! You can get up to a $25 gift card, I’m at the $10 level right now.
• Safeway Sneak Peek – I see a Buy 1, Get 1 FREE Sale on Ben & Jerry’s non-dairy in my crystal ball! Starts Wed., 4/28. PLUS if you printed the $1/1 coupon we had earlier and haven’t used it yet, pay just $1.99 ea.! You may also have a $.50/1 in the Safeway app. Pictured are some of the new flavors I found recently at my local Safeway.
• Safeway Sneak Peek – Starts Wed.! Breyer’s will also be on a Buy 1, get 1 FREE Sale! We really like the Oreo cookie one. You’ll just need to use your Safeway card (ph#), deal may also be online too for delivery/pickup.
• Sprouts: Skinny Pop Kettle Corn Sweet & Salty Just $1.50 for a full-sized bag! Exp. 7/30 There’s a new high-value $1.50/1 Sprouts app coupon. I’ll add this to my Weekly Sprouts Post.
• Prefer to make your own cookies, and perhaps a WFPB one without processed sugar or oil? I’ve been making these for years, and they really satisfy my sweet tooth. They pack really well, too, and I often brought them on trips in the past. This is also the post that gets the most views on my website every month. I think these would be amazing as an ice cream sandwich made with banana nice cream. It’s on my to-do list.

• Sunday Newspaper Coupon Update: There were inserts this week, but nothing vegan! You can see past lists here, I keep my inserts for 6 months in case a sale comes up down the road
• Whole Foods: Cedar’s Hommus (their spelling) is on sale this week, and I spotted this oil and tahini free one. Great if you are avoiding oil and nut butters. When I make homemade hummus w/o tahini, I add some fresh rosemary. The extra flavor really adds a lot, I’ve had people say they prefer that one in a side by side with one that has tahini. If you have Whole Foods Delivery in your area, can order online for delivery or pickup
• FREE! I’m hearing confirmed reports that folks are getting the regular Kindle Version of this FREE right now, not just Kindle Unlimited. I think I have this one in hardcover, I’ve lost track of how many vegan cookbooks I have LOL. Forks Over Knives: Flavor!: Delicious, Whole-Food, Plant-Based Recipes to Cook Every Day.

Recipes

• What’s for Dinner? I’m going the easy instant pot route and making my Black Bean Soup. Note: If you previously made or printed/saved the recipe, I added bay leaves to it today. We’ll have it with FREE French Bread I won in Safeway Monopoly. Please feel free to share any of your vegan food, simple like mine, or not!

• Enjoying my 2 cent glass of brewed iced tea! It’s easy and super cheap to make iced tea with tea bags. I got a box of “pitcher size” Lipton tea bags at the Dollar Tree. If using regular sized tea bags, I use 10 per 2 qts. Just boil in a few cups of water, steep 5 minutes. Discard bags, add tea to pitcher then fill up with water to make 2 qts.
• Prefer to make your own veggie burgers? Back when I was vegetarian, I enjoyed Garden Burgers. This was before the deluge of burgers we see now in the stores. I came up with this vegan version of Garden Burgers. They hold together really well, and we’ve made them as sliders too which were fun! They taste delicious, and at a cost of about $.25 each to make, a good choice for a cheap burger.

We are starting to see some of our yearly sales on baking items. The best price I’ve found for baking items is usually in bulk large 25 lb. bags. My local Warehouse store, Smart Foodservice is where I tend to get the best price per lb. However, this time of year, flour, sugar and more will be on sale in regular stores, too. Sometimes this will beat my Warehouse store prices.
