Harry & David Fruit Boxes
Please note: This company also sells non-vegan items. I tried to link to just the fruit gifts, but wasn’t able to. Please use the drop-down tab on the site and select “Pears & Fruit”, then click on one of the sub categories.
For the past couple of years, we have ordered Pear & Apple Gift Boxes from Harry & David for our relatives who live in other states. In the past, we had sent other gifts, but after paying for shipping it really didn’t make good sense. We have sent pears, honeybells and apples.
Our relatives really enjoy the delicious fresh fruit, and look forward to these during the holidays now.

Homemade Gifts
My daughter usually makes homemade food gifts for close friends and family. One of her specialties is Peppermint Bark. She likes to use both white chocolate and semisweet chocolate. It’s quite easy to make, and really delicious!
How to Make Vegan Peppermint Bark:
Ingredients: Candy canes, crushed up (use the ones with peppermint oil, some of the dollar store ones don’t work well), semisweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips or baking bars. You can do just one type of chocolate, or both traditional brown and white chocolate. A few small drops peppermint extract is optional but nice in the melted chocolates.
Directions: Melt the chocolates in the microwave, one type at a time. Add optional peppermint extract if desired. Spread on baking sheet lined with silicone liner to desired thickness, freeze. Melt the 2nd type of chocolate, layer over the 1st one, sprinkle on crushed candy canes before popping into freezer. When completely solid, break up into pieces. We usually store in fridge in gift tins. Super yummy and easy!
Supplies we use:
For the semi-sweet chocolate, we usually purchase Trader Joe’s chocolate chips. At $1.99/bag it’s quite a bargain! For the candy canes, we’ll buy them when we see a sale.
For the white chocolate, we like this one:
